Adopting a Baby? No, Two Babies! (Part 2)

At these interviews, the questions she asked were very personal and I supposed most people who wanted an adoption but gave up halfway because of their unwillingness to go through this interviews.

Although the interviews were rather daunting, these questions were important and necessary as she would want to observe if the couples are ready and really serious in adopting a baby. Fortunately for us, we were very determined with our plan of adoption and we had also read up widely on issues related to adoption, so we were prepared for it. We were very patient, open and truthful in answering whatever questions that were laid before us. We were just determined to succeed in getting a good home study report written on us.

Finally, we received our home study report stating our adoption officer’s approval that we are suitable for adoption. It was now time to start looking for adoption agencies which could help us in the next level of the adoption process. We decided on one private agency and it was from this agency that we got to adopt our babies. Yes, you read correctly. We were looking into adopting a baby but again our prayers were answered – we’ve got twins!

After a few weeks, we were told to go for another two interviews, this time it was by the senior officials of the ministry. Well, I supposed if you could go through the first two interviews for the home study successfully, the last two interviews would not be a problem and yes, we had finally procured ourselves with an approval to go ahead with the adoption of our twins – a boy and a girl!

That was in August 2007 when a miracle happened after many prayers. A lovely and the most adorable pair of fraternal twins came into our lives and started brightening up each and every one of our days. They are so beautiful and adorable and we have never been happier. When they first came, one of the twins looked weak and I supposed it was due to the lack of nutritious food. We cried that very night, cuddling them tightly. We cried because we were joyful to have them, we cried because we felt for them and we cried because we were proud to be parents.

That was how I became the proud mother of a lovely pair of twins and neither my husband nor I have ever regretted our choice to adopt. It was the best decision made even though things were not easy initially as we had to wake up every 3 hours in the night to feed both of them (one cries, both cry and they are more trustworthy than any alarm clocks in the world!) Thus my advice to all of you out there who has the intention of adopting a baby is NEVER GIVE UP! You will be pleasantly rewarded at the end of the adoption journey.
